Mr Ling Ten Ing was for 18 years a senior academic and management staff of the School of Business and Accountancy of Ngee Ann Polytechnic. He was Deputy Director and Principal Lecturer from 1990 to 2001. He was concurrently Director of its Regional Business Centre, and Director, Programme for International Education and Executive Chairman of Ngee Ann Polytechnic Consumer Co-operative Ltd.

Mr Ling specializes in International Business, International Marketing, Marketing Management, as well as in Leisure and Travel Management.

Prior to his academic appointments in 1983, he had held senior positions in both the Public and Private sectors, responsible for trade, sales and marketing and business development. Some of his portfolios include Assistant General Manager / Principal Underwriter, Export Credit Insurance, Group General Manager, Sing Holdings Pte Ltd, General Manager, Abacus Corporation P/L,

Mr Ling graduated with a B.A.(Hons) from the University of Singapore in 1969 and received Gold Medal Award. He had undertaken post-graduate studies at the International Trade Centre in Geneva in 1971 and at INSEAD in France (1986), in addition to participating in numerous academic and management seminars, and study visits overseas.

He is the author of Fundamentals of International Marketing – A Singapore Perspective, 1990. This was widely used in the Polytechnics and in post-graduate courses.

Mr Ling has received commendations both for his academic and community work. In 1996 he became the first winner of the prestigious Dr Hiew Siew Nam Distinguished Academic Award* for academic excellence. In 1998 he was presented the Certificate of Honour by Singapore National Co-operative Federation for his successful management of a co-operative and his contributions to the co-operative management.

From February 2002 to December 2003, Mr Ling has been Director of Corporate Development for Coleman Education Group. Presently, Mr Ling is the Principal Consultant of Newell Consultants, a company that provides management and academic consultancy services.
